When Yes OR No won’t work – Answers/Insights/Solutions

Oftentimes when I give lectures, especially on the topic of Human Potential and Success Strategies. I’ll emphasize the importance of developing or refining Intuition Power™ Skills. Depending on the group I’ll give ‘individual spot readings’ at the end. (Thats a skill where I look out into the audience, call on someone, ask permission to ‘tune in’ and if they say YES, I give them a psychic/intuitive message or quick forecast…and, yes, you can learn to do this and be very accurate; but that’s another article.)

One night I remember I completed my talk and gave about ten spot readings. And, “Time to go home everybody, we’re out of time; thank you so much.”

As I got off the stage a man was in my face insisting, “You must give me a reading, I have to know, YES or NO!  Yes or No?”  And he wouldn’t honor the request to vacate.  Literally kept blocking my path.

“OKay, what’s the question?”   I said.     

“I must know this.. my friends are going to Alaska to work on the pipeline.  They are guaranteed a lot of money.  I could go; I need the money.   But I’m hesitant and I need to know… should I go or not, yes or no?  Yes or NO?”

I said, “I’ll answer your question under one condition.  You come in and have a short reading from me so I can explain the answer and explore and explain your options.’  If you agree to do that, I’ll answer your question.”

He said, ‘YES’.  I said, “You promise?”  He said, “yes!”

I told him, “The answer to your question is “No, don’t go.”   At that moment I honestly didn’t tune in further.  The channel of information was closed like the end of a movie and the screen was now dark, movie over.  Ifelt fine about it.  I knew there was more to the answer and trusted that he understood the conditions of my answer.  And, it had been a long night and I was quite happy to go home.  You have to know when to draw the line and close shop. I had already gone over by about 20 minutes; the staff of the lecture hall was waiting to close up and go home too.  

The last thing I said to the young man was;  “Now, call me tomorrow and come in for the rest of the answer.”  He agreed.  I didn’t hear from him; he did not honor his agreement and did not get the rest of the information.

About two years later I got a call.  A young man was screaming at me… MAD! He was rambling about a lecture he attended and that I had told him not to go to Alaska. He didn’t go based on what I told him. Several of his friends went and made a TON of money and he’s still struggling.

As he was angrily sharing his story, I suddenly flashed on the moment at the lecture hall, who he was and remembered what happened. I interrupted him and said, ‘I’m sorry you broke your agreement. I told you I would answer your YES/No Question on ONE Condition. You agreed you would come in for a reading to get the rest of the information. I remember I told you, “No – do not go.” And I said “there’s more to that story.” What you didn’t hear was what you needed to do instead. I asked him, “Do you realize that you could have had a horrible accident if you went to work there? You might have lost a leg during construction. Don’t be so sure I didn’t give you the best advice. It wasn’t a simple Yes OR No and I told you that.  If you had come in for a consultation, I could have explained. I might have helped guide you to the opportunity that was coming. You didn’t keep your agreement and you didn’t get the rest of the answer.”

Sometimes there are windows of opportunity that we don’t realize are there.  That’s one of the best benefits of a professional intuitive reading. 

Sometimes, if we’re caught up in our own current challenges or issues, its hard to prepare for what we don’t know is coming.  Sometimes, clients come in completely content and I drop a bombshell that totally turns their life onto a new and more exciting path.  I have to say, in my (so far) 35 year career as a professional Intuitive/psychic, trainer and business consultant/coach there are sooo many times that I’ve told people things that at the time, just don’t register.  In fact, while giving psychic readings, people sometimes say… ‘um, really??’  ‘Who me?’,  ‘Are you kidding?’   And then I go into mini-coach mode of helping them lay out a plan of action to take advantage of the timing of the ‘POTENTIAL’ option.  Sometimes its about being in the right place for meeting ‘the ONE’.  Sometimes its leaving a marriage.  Once it was insisting that a woman take a specific vacation at a specific time and place resulting in her meeting her soul mate.  I remember once I was reading Tarot Cards and the first card plus 100% of my impression was – ‘get a divorce.’ Not knowing anything about this attractive 47 years old red head, I just glossed over it. I didn’t even know she was married or not. I didn’t know anything about her but her name and birthdate. All I knew was she was on my appointment list and paid for a reading and there we were.  My first impressions at the start of the session was – ‘get a divorce!’ The next card was ‘OMG’, as much as I tried to feel around it – I had to ask, “Are you currently married?”   She said, “Yes I am”.  And in a few more minutes I just had to say it.  “I’m sorry to say this.  You need a divorce.”   That message kept repeating itself over and over throughout the full hour session. Wow. I hate when that happens; I personally prefer to give insights as to how to salvage challenged unions rather than bust em up. But this time, the further into the reading I got, the more obvious the problems became.  Her husband, 23 years her senior and now retired became obsessively jealous.  She was in advertising and traveled up and down the coast for business.  Turns out he grabbed her contact list and started calling all the business men she had meetings set up with; accusing them of all sorts of things and offered a variety of threats. The job she loved was being sabotaged and it was quite embarrassing; controlling and obsessive. Toward the end of the hour reading session she began to ‘fess up’ and give me a few of the details to confirm the ‘possibility’ that ‘maybe’ I was right. I gave insights into ‘what might happen if and when’.

She actually signed up for a few of my classes and two months later, she handed me a letter from her Therapist.  This professional sent me a thank you note.  It said, “I listened to the recording of your session with my client. I’ve been trying to get her to see she needed a divorce for the past three years.  My profession prohibits me from telling clients what to do.”  Thank you. She needed someone to tell her straight up that she really did need to move on; and the suggested timing and strategy to transition was brilliant and heartfelt.  I’ve been trying to get her to come to that conclusion for the past three years.”  The woman did got a divorce. She changed companies, got a better job.  Ended up moving out of state and quickly connected to her new husband and has been ecstatically happy for over ten years now.

So, sometimes, a ‘yes or no’ just isn’t enough. There’s an important saying,
“You don’t know what you don’t know.”

One of my favorite stories was about a woman who worked in a bank doing special projects.  I basically told her to update her resume and in three months, look for three men who will walk into the bank.  I said, it’ll be obvious who they are.  Hand them your resume.  They will hire you to do something like VP of their Bank.  She freaked out.  She said, ‘you’ve got to be joking.  I could never do anything like that.”  I asked her a few questions about what she currently did.  Then I tuned in again.  And I got the same thing.  “Well, you have three months to follow around the VP of your bank, figure out what that job is and put your resume together.”  I also told her she’s be moving and buying a house in about six weeks.  She was SURE, actually explained she was house hunting for her current boss.  And, at that point she actually said something suggesting that I was totally bonkers.  However; two months later she called me. She took a side street on route to work one day to avert traffic and saw a man just posting a ‘for sale by owner’ sign in his yard.  Since she was given the assignment to look for a home for her boss, she decided to stop and check it out.  She fell in love with the house and ended up buying THAT house for herself!  A year later she called me to thank me.  She said she did in fact put the resume together as I suggested.  The men walked in the bank and there was something obvious about them.  She did what I said and she was hired to work at their bank, VP.   (She should have sent me a big tip!)   She said she NEVER would have made that job change or felt prepared for it; and would not have conceived of buying a house for herself if it hadn’t been for that reading. She was very grateful and amazed.
